With the dominance of AI growing at an absolute breakneck speed with more and more demand for Machine Learning (ML) and GenAI job postings, there is a sudden spike in the demand for human skills. ET reports there has been a 65% hike in AI and ML job postings and a gargantuan 411% increase for GenAI-related jobs—SkyHive By Cornerstone Global State of the Skills Economy Report by workforce agility solutions company Cornerstone OnDemand Inc.
The report highlights that despite such continuous growth, the necessity for soft skills like leadership, communication and EQ is not only growing parallely but outweighing the need of digital competencies across every region by 2x. The deductions are a result of data compilation and analyses from the past five years and provide erudite narratives into future trends and forecasts.
There has been a striking surge of 154% in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in the past 5 years signalling a sector that’s set for wider adoption as industries are exploring AR/VR apps that go farther than the gamut entertainment and include verticals like training simulations, remote collaboration and enhancing customer experiences (CX).
In the global AI ambit, India pioneers the AI/ML job posting scenario with a share of 4.1%, preceding Germany (2.5%) and Japan (2.2%) in the rankings.
The demand for GenAI skills is expanding beyond the technology sector, with a notable rise in industries like financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and banking.
The demand for remote and flexible work has risen by 39%, with countries like Australia (22.8%) and Germany (21%) at the forefront in job postings seeking remote or flexible workers. They are followed closely by New Zealand (20.3%), the United Kingdom (18.8%), the United States (15%), Spain (11.6%), Japan (9.7%), and India (6.3%). France (4.9%) and Italy (1.4%) rank among the lowest in this trend.
