Flipkart (a subsidiary of Walmart) has recently announced a new name for its CHRO chair — Seema Nair. The news came through an internal email from Kalyan Krishnamurthy as reported by ET. The news breaks just before Flipkart’s The Big Billion Days festival.
With over 30 years of professional experience, Seema has worked with globally reputed brands like Intel, Crompton Greaves, Coca-Cola, Cisco and Reliance. She has held the CHRO position for Coca-Cola India and Cisco India. Her last stint was with Reliance where she served as the Sr. EVP, Head — Reliance Group HR Office and Head — Reliance Group HR Digitisation.
Seema replaces Krishna Raghavan who had left the the Indian e-commerce giant after 6 years as the CHRO.
Speaking on their newest talent management leader, Kalyan said, “In this role, she will oversee human resources for Flipkart, partnering closely with respective leaders and HR teams.”
Seema holds an MBA degree from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
On 20th February, Krishnamurthy communicated to employees regarding the exit of four senior vice presidents (SVPs) from the company. The Economic Times was the first to report on these significant departures, which included Ayyappan R, head of Cleartrip, Amitesh Jha, who led the marketplace and categories, Dheeraj A, responsible for fintech and payments, and Bharath Ram, who oversaw growth and retention. These departures came amid Flipkart’s initiative to streamline operations, involving performance-based reductions across various departments, including engineering and product management.
