India’s leading tobacco and FMCG company Godfrey Phillips (flagship brand of Modi Enterprises), has announced the appointment of Siddharth Chawla as their new COO who will take on the role from January 7, 2025. Chawla joins the company from Pharmarack, where he currently serves as Chief Growth Officer.
The news came through an exchange filing which stated, “We wish to inform you that on the basis of recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of the Company have today i.e. on December 26, 2024, approved the appointment of Siddharth Chawla as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Senior Management Personnel of the Company.”

With nearly 24 years of professional experience, Chawla has held prominent positions across diverse industries, demonstrating leadership in several organisations, including ITC and Udaan. His tenure at ITC is particularly noteworthy, where he began his career as a management trainee in 2001, progressively advancing to the position of Business Head (District Manager) for the brand’s North Indian division, overseeing both FMCG and cigarette operations.
Over the course of his career, Chawla has consistently showcased a strong ability to develop and implement go-to-market strategies, build new business systems and supply chain networks, and introduce innovative product categories and distribution channels. His proven expertise in leading large, geographically dispersed teams in complex business environments and matrix structures will be a significant asset as he transitions into his new role at Godfrey Phillips India, as highlighted by the company in the release.
