Following the death of EY's young CA associate allegedly due to over work, Deloitte has appointed a three-member external committee which includes big names like ex-revenue secretary Tarun Bajaj to look into its work culture and people policies. This was confirmed by accounting giant's South Asia CEO Romal Shetty.
Deloitte is one of the biggest accounting firms in India along with EY, PwC and KPMG.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Shetty mourned the losss of 26 year olf Anna Sebestain Perayil. He said, "Very unfortunate, very tragic, young child losing her life. We are in the client service business, there will always be deadlines. Having all of those pressures..."
He outrightly dimissed any bullying culture within organisations that have been built over a 100-150 years, but did not rule out any personal transgressions.
He added, that in today's world where the workforce is diverse, there is need to relook at the work environment and make it suitable to manage stress.
