
A recent report highlights Bengaluru as the leading city for job opportunities and salary growth, boasting a year-on-year increase of 9.3%. Chennai and Delhi closely follow, with salary growth rates of 7.5% and 7.3%, respectively, indicating a competitive job landscape in these cities.
Bengaluru’s average monthly salary is now Rs 29,500, making it the highest-paying city in India, according to the TeamLease Services Jobs and Salaries Primer report for FY24. The report analyzes unified salaries across both temporary and permanent hiring sectors.
Chennai offers an average monthly salary of Rs 24,500, while Delhi stands at Rs 27,800. Other major cities, such as Mumbai and Ahmedabad, also experienced steady salary growth, with Mumbai averaging Rs 25,100 and Pune at Rs 24,700, maintaining competitive pay levels.
On the industry front, retail emerged as the strongest performer, achieving a notable 8.4% salary growth. It was followed by consumer durables at 5.2% and the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector at 5.1%. Meanwhile, sectors such as logistics, FMCG, healthcare, pharma, and construction exhibited more moderate salary increases, underscoring their steady demand for skilled professionals.
Top-paying industries include Telecommunications (Rs 29,200), Manufacturing, Engineering, and Infrastructure (Rs 28,200), Healthcare and Pharma (Rs 27,600), and Construction and Real Estate (Rs 27,000).
"The report reveals a promising outlook for India's job market, with significant salary growth across cities and industries. Bengaluru's 9.3% increase, alongside retail's impressive 8.4% rise, indicates a rising demand for specialized skills that influence compensation trends. This shift signifies more than just incremental growth; it's a transformation in the job market," said Kartik Narayan, CEO of TeamLease-Staffing.
