Daikin has inaugurated a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India, marking a significant strategic move aimed at harnessing the country’s technological and talent-driven strengths. Developed in partnership with consulting firm EY, the new facility will concentrate on advancing competencies across information technology, digital services, data management, finance, artificial intelligence and allied domains.

The centre, to be named the Daikin Innovation and Services Hub, will be located in Gurgaon and is expected to employ nearly 700 professionals. Rather than serving purely as a cost-reduction mechanism, this initiative underscores Daikin’s long-term commitment to India as a capability powerhouse. The hub is envisioned as a foundation for an expansive, large-scale GCC in the country in the coming years, according to a company presentation.
“Success of this project will pave the way for more such centres in India. There is a shift in the mindset of the parent company, which led to this opening of the GCC, and also due to India’s talent pool. The Indian business will play a bigger role for the parent company,” a senior company executive stated.
India currently represents one of Daikin’s most important markets, with the company projecting revenues of ₹12,500 crore in FY 2024-25. Beyond its domestic success, Daikin is positioning India as a global manufacturing and export hub. Air-conditioners produced in India are now being shipped to emerging markets across Africa, South America, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan. To further support this global outreach, Daikin is also constructing an export-focused facility in Sri City.
In a further sign of its deepening commitment, the company has begun local production of key components, including compressors, enhancing its vertical integration within the country. Notably, Daikin India’s Managing Director, KJ Jawa, holds the distinction of being the only non-Japanese executive on the parent company’s board in Japan, underscoring India's growing influence within the corporate structure.
This new hub not only solidifies India’s role as a central pillar in Daikin’s global operations but also reflects the evolving strategic outlook of the Japanese conglomerate towards innovation and localisation.
