Pharmaceutical firm Cipla has announced that its Global CEO and Managing Director, Umang Vohra, will step down at the end of March 2026, marking the end of his nearly ten-year tenure.
Taking the reins effective 1 April 2026, Achin Gupta, current Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of CEO for the next five years.
Gupta joined Cipla in 2021 and has been leading the company’s India business, its largest market, driving growth particularly in chronic‐therapy drugs.
Vohra noted that with Gupta’s experience in licensing, mergers, and acquisitions and given Cipla’s strong cash position, the company is well-placed to pursue an innovation-led strategy over the next five to seven years.
