Dr. Tooba Modassir Elevated to Chief Human Resources Officer for Citi in India and Subcontinent

Dr. Tooba Modassir has been elevated to the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Citi in India and the Indian subcontinent. In addition, she will serve as the Banking Human Resources Advisor (HRA) for the sub-cluster, covering India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

In her new capacity, Dr Modassir will lead the human resources strategy and operations across the region, overseeing a workforce of approximately 34,000 employees. Her promotion marks a significant step in Citi’s ongoing commitment to cultivating leadership from within.

Dr. Modassir will continue reporting to Arun Mirchandani, Asia South Cluster and Banking HR Head at Citi, as stated in the company’s official announcement.

She previously held the role of CHRO and Banking HRA for Citi Malaysia. Since joining Citi in 2008, she has served in several senior capacities, including HR Business Partner for Retail and Institutional Banking in India, and Head of Talent, Performance Management, Learning, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) across the bank and its Global Capability Centres.

Dr. Modassir succeeds Aditya Mittal, who has retired following an illustrious career of over 30 years with Citi.

We look forward to her leadership in advancing our growth-oriented HR programmes in the Indian subcontinent.”

Dr. Modassir brings with her 19 years of experience across HR advisory, talent engagement, learning and development, and performance management. She holds a PhD in Talent Management and Diversity from Goa Business School and an MBA in Human Resources from Goa Institute of Management.
