Nothing, the London-based smartphone brand, has named co-founder Akis Evangelidis as the new president of its India operations, the company confirmed on Wednesday. In his new role, Evangelidis will oversee the strategic direction and expansion of the company’s operations in one of its most vital markets.
This appointment comes just a year after Manu Sharma, the former general manager and vice president, stepped down from his position leading the brand’s India division. Evangelidis will now take the reins at a time when India has become a key focus for Nothing's growth ambitions.
The Indian market has grown increasingly important for Nothing, especially following the company’s remarkable success in the region. According to Counterpoint Research, Nothing was the fastest-growing smartphone brand in India in Q4 2024, recording an astounding 577% year-on-year growth.

From its inception, Nothing has placed significant emphasis on India, launching every product, including those under its sub-brand CMF. Furthermore, the brand manufactures its smartphones locally through iSmartu, the manufacturing arm of Transsion, which is now largely owned by Dixon Technologies.
Evangelidis’ appointment underscores India’s crucial role in Nothing's global business strategy, with the company now aiming for the next phase of its growth in the country.
"India is one of the most important markets for Nothing, and we believe there is a tremendous opportunity to become a leading consumer tech brand in the country. I’m very excited to step into this new role and continue to bring distinctive, design-led tech innovations to Indian consumers," Evangelidis said in a statement.
Looking ahead, Evangelidis stressed that India will remain a key player in the global smartphone industry, and Nothing is committed to ramping up its domestic production. "In 2025, we are doubling down by ramping up our investments in India and expanding our offline presence to over 12,000 stores," he added.
