
In a significant corporate move, German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has announced the appointment of Emrah Ozer as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its Indian operations. This change, which forms part of a broader reorganisation within the finance and controlling function, took effect on 1st January 2025. Ozer will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial landscape of the company as it continues to strengthen its presence in the Indian market.
Ozer, who is currently serving as a Member of the Board of Management and Head of Finance & Controlling at Mercedes-Benz Otomotiv Turkey, will eventually join the Board of Mercedes-Benz India as an Executive Director. His appointment comes after the departure of Evren Cakabey, who has transitioned to the role of Executive Director & CFO at Mercedes-Benz G GmbH in Austria as of 1st January 2025.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed confidence in Ozer's ability to drive the company’s financial strategy. "We are confident that Emrah, with his diverse international financial experience and proven track record, will continue Mercedes-Benz's growth momentum in India," Iyer said. He further highlighted Ozer’s expertise in international finance, business modelling, and investor relations, which is expected to prove invaluable to the company in India.
Ozer brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having successfully managed relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, governments, and investors, during his tenure at Mercedes-Benz Otomotiv Turkey. His career spans several senior roles within Mercedes-Benz, including leadership positions in Finance & Controlling for Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Benz AG, and Smart, where he was responsible for the India and NAFTA regions.
Having started his career in 2002 at the Finance & Controlling department at Smart GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany, Ozer’s expertise in project controlling expanded as he took on the role of Head of Project Controlling for India & NAFTA in 2008. His solid academic background includes a Master's Diploma in Economics from the University of Wilhelmshaven.
Ozer’s appointment reflects Mercedes-Benz India’s commitment to building a robust and dynamic leadership team, poised to accelerate the company’s financial growth and long-term strategy in one of the world’s most promising automotive markets.
