Zomato Co-founder Akriti Chopra Bids Farewell to Company After 13 Years

Akriti Chopra, who co-founded Zomato has stepped down from her erstwhile position with immediate effect after a 13-year-old stint at the company. She joined the restaurant aggregator and food delivery company in 2011 as the Senior Manager, Finance and Operations where she was promoted to CFO followed by Head of People Development before being inducted as a Founder in 2021.

The decision came on September 27th where she decided to call it quits to pursue other interests. In her exit letter addressed to Deepindar Goyal, she wrote, “Deepi, As discussed, formally sending in my resignation effective today, September 27, 2024. It's been an incredibly enriching journey over the past 13 years. Thank you for everything. I'm always a call away. Wishing you and Eternal, the very best.”

Akriti is the fifth top-level employee of Zomato to quit the company after Gunjan Patidar who resigned in January 2023 as the CTO, a few weeks after another Co-founder Mohit Gupta had left the brand. Previously, Rahul Ganjoo (who rejoined in August this year) and Siddharth Jhawar, ex-food delivery head and head of its Intercity Legends service had ended terms with the organisation.

Before Zomato, Akriti worked with PwC for 3 years and is a certified Chartered Accountant. She is also the spouse of Albinder Dhindsa, the Co-founder of Blinkit. She holds a B.Com degree from the University of Delhi.
