Fast-moving consumer goods leader Dabur India has initiated construction of its ₹400 crore manufacturing complex in Tamil Nadu, marking the company’s inaugural production facility in South India.
The upcoming plant, located in Tindivanam within Villupuram district, will produce an extensive portfolio of Dabur’s oral and personal care offerings. These include toothpastes such as ‘Dabur Red’ and ‘Meswak’, alongside personal care staples like ‘Dabur Gulabari’, Vatika Hair Oil and Anmol Hair Oil.
According to the company, the advanced facility is expected to generate more than 250 direct employment opportunities while catalysing thousands of indirect jobs across allied sectors.

The ground-breaking ceremony, conducted on 12 February, was attended virtually by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. The event also saw participation from Industries Minister TRB Rajaa and Industries Department Principal Secretary Arun Roy, among other officials, the company confirmed in a statement released on Friday.
Reflecting on the milestone, Chief Executive Officer Mohit Malhotra said, "We are proud to begin building Dabur's first manufacturing facility in South India that will strengthen supply resilience and put 'Made in Tamil Nadu' at the heart of our growth in the region."
"This ground-breaking is a defining step in building Dabur's next chapter, with manufacturing that is faster, greener and closer to the consumer. Tamil Nadu gives us the platform to scale with agility and serve South India with greater speed and freshness," Malhotra said.
Beyond current product lines, the company indicated that production capabilities will be expanded to include items such as Real Juices and Amla Hair Oil, establishing Tindivanam as a strategic node within Dabur’s nationwide manufacturing ecosystem.
Global Operations Head Saurabh Lal emphasised the facility’s sustainability ambitions, stating, "The facility will feature state-of-the-art technology, operate entirely on renewable energy, and foster a truly inclusive workplace with a predominantly women workforce."
He added that the new unit would serve as a cornerstone of Dabur’s southern manufacturing footprint, enhancing operational scale, efficiency and long-term sustainability.
