E-commerce giant Flipkart announced on Monday that it has created over 2.2 lakh seasonal employment opportunities across its supply chain, logistics and last-mile delivery operations in preparation for the upcoming festive season.

In a statement, the company revealed that its logistics infrastructure will be bolstered by 650 new festive-only delivery hubs located in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

"In the lead-up to the festive season, Flipkart is scaling employment opportunities, infrastructure, and tech deployments across 28 states. With the creation of over 2.2 lakh+ job opportunities, expanded last-mile reach, and inclusive hiring across Tier 2 and 3 cities, Flipkart's ecosystem-first approach this festive season is built for scale," the company said.

The drive also includes a 10 per cent increase in female recruitment and a heightened emphasis on creating opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwD).

Earlier this month, Amazon India announced that it had created over 1.5 lakh seasonal roles across its operations network, including fulfilment centres, sort centres and last-mile delivery stations, reflecting intense competition among e-commerce players to strengthen their workforce ahead of peak demand.
