Dentsu Aegis Network’s digital agency WATConsult has recently elevated Heeru Dingra as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Currently, Dingra is serving as chief human resources officer and chief financial officer. Dingra began her journey with WATConsult nine years ago. Prior to this, she was associated with ICICI Bank for nearly ten years in multiple roles.

India Joins Reskilling Initiative at World Economic Forum

India has recently joined as a founding government member of the World Economic Forum’s Reskilling Revolution, an initiative to provide one billion people with better education, skills, and jobs by 2030. The scheme aims to help economies to adapt to changes being introduced by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and future-proof workers from technological changes. According to the World Economic Forum, around 75 million jobs are to be displaced. This is predominantly because of technological integration and automation. The transformation will create large scale unemployment affecting the labour population greatly and will also create demand for 133 million new jobs. The WEF wants to shift the labour population towards the requirement of the technology upgrade.

Unread Emails are Making 60% Millennials Anxious: Report

The latest survey by email collaboration platform Hiver shows that more than 60 per cent of millennials feel anxious when they see unread emails in their inbox. Millennials agreed that long emails hampered their workplace productivity and that they preferred them to be shorter and ‘to the point’. The survey also revealed that as many as 2 in 5 millennials get extremely uncomfortable if they haven’t been able to check their work email for 3-4 hours at a stretch. Millennials today are practising ‘Inbox Zero’ — which refers to nearly empty inboxes at all times. The survey was conducted with over 600 millennials in India to understand their work email behaviour patterns.

Employer to Cut 20% TDS if Employee Doesn’t Share PAN, Aadhaar Details

Employers might soon start deducting 20 per cent from the salaries of their staff if they fail to furnish their Permanent Account Number (PAN) or Aadhaar number to them. This is a new rule brought in by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which will be applicable to employees whose salary is above the threshold of Rs 2.5 lakh a year. This rule is aimed at keeping a close eye on TDS payments and revenue earned by this segment. In the financial year 2018-19, revenue from this segment amounted to around 37 per cent of the total direct tax collection.

Zomato Acquires Uber Eats, Jobs of 245 Employees Affected

Online food delivery platform Zomato has acquired Uber’s food delivery business, Uber Eats, in India in an all-stock deal. The deal gives Uber 9.99% ownership in Zomato. Uber Eats in India will discontinue operations and direct restaurants, delivery partners, and users of the Uber Eats apps to the Zomato platform. Close to 245 Uber Eats employees will be affected by this deal. These employees will not be absorbed by Zomato as part of the transaction. This means around 100 executives will either be reallocated to Uber’s other verticals or laid off. Some of those affected had moved from Uber to Uber Eats just recently.

Acko’s New Inclusive HR Policy Extends Benefits to Partners of LGBTIQ Employees

India’s first and fastest-growing InsurTech company, Acko has recently announced that it has extended its group medical insurance cover to include the partners of their LGBTIQ+ employees. This will enable Acko’s employees from the LGBTIQ+ community to declare their same-sex live-in partners to avail medical insurance benefits that would cover hospitalisation, health returns, and health assessment. Ruchi Deepak, Managing Director of Acko said that the company is committed to driving genuine diversity and inclusion in the workplace where everyone feels included and respected. Acko has also created a gender-neutral POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policy that extends coverage to all LGBTIQ+ employees and not only cis-gendered men and women.
