Hyderabad Leads with 41% Surge in IT Job Openings, Bengaluru Follows with 24%

Between April 2023 and April 2024, Hyderabad experienced a significant 41.5% increase in IT job postings, according to data from the hiring platform Indeed. Bengaluru, often dubbed India's Silicon Valley, recorded a 24% rise in the same period, highlighting these cities as prime destinations for IT job seekers. This growth occurs amidst a backdrop of cautious hiring and potential layoffs in the broader IT sector.

Indeed's data reveals that while Hyderabad saw a 41.5% rise in job postings, Bengaluru achieved a 24% increase, making these cities the top choices for IT professionals. This trend stands out against a nationwide decline of 3.6% in IT job postings over the same timeframe, influenced by global economic uncertainties.

Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India said that Hyderabad is firmly establishing itself as a key IT hub in India. Their data not only shows a remarkable 41.5% year-on-year increase in job postings but also a substantial 161% rise in job seeker interest. This growth can be attributed to Hyderabad’s vibrant tech ecosystem, superior infrastructure, skilled workforce from top institutions and supportive government policies.

Indeed's analysis highlights that software and IT roles remain highly sought after by both current professionals and those seeking new opportunities. He also talked said that despite challenges, the demand for IT jobs is increasing, driven by the specialised skills, training and experience required for these roles.

To thrive in this competitive job market, Kumar advises job seekers to enhance their skills, particularly in analysis and agile methodologies, which are currently in high demand.
