In a significant vote of confidence in Odisha’s industrial trajectory, Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), on Wednesday unveiled plans to invest ₹33,081 crore across three major projects in the state. The investment will span a data centre in Bhubaneswar, alongside a thermal power plant and a cement manufacturing unit near Cuttack, collectively expected to generate approximately 9,700 jobs.
The first of the proposed ventures is an ₹800 crore data centre in Bhubaneswar, designed to bolster the digital economy while creating nearly 200 employment opportunities.
A far larger undertaking involves the establishment of a thermal power plant near Cuttack at a projected cost of ₹30,181 crore. This facility is anticipated to generate around 7,000 jobs while significantly enhancing power availability for both industries and households.

The third initiative entails a ₹2,100 crore cement manufacturing unit, also near Cuttack, which is expected to create close to 2,500 jobs and provide crucial support for infrastructure development in the region.
"Taken together, these projects are a statement of belief. A belief that Odisha is not on the cusp of its moment -- it is in it. That the next chapter of India's industrial rise will be written here, in this State, by these people," Karan Adani noted.
Addressing attendees at the inauguration of industrial projects, he underscored the Adani Group’s expanding footprint in Odisha and reiterated its enduring commitment to the state’s development.
He emphasised that the Group’s involvement transcends mere project investment and reflects a broader ambition to contribute to Odisha’s emergence as a leading economic hub.
"Odisha is no longer a state in transition but one that clearly understands its direction and growth path," Karan Adani mentioned.
"What makes Odisha's vision credible is that the foundation is real. The resources are here. The people are here. The governance reform is happening," he stated.
He added that what remains is the act of building — decisively, at scale, and with a long horizon.
Karan Adani concluded by observing that Odisha is already playing a vital role in India’s economic future and is poised to evolve further as a prominent industrial and technological centre, with the Adani Group positioning itself as a long-term partner in this journey.
