Global technology conglomerate Amazon on Monday inaugurated its second-largest Asian office in Bengaluru, underscoring the city’s prominence as a regional innovation powerhouse.
The 12-storey campus, extending across 1.1 million square feet, is expected to accommodate more than 7,000 employees spanning e-commerce, operations, payments, technology and seller services, the company confirmed in an official statement.
"Amazon's continued investment in Bengaluru reflects India's growing role as a global technology and innovation hub. Large-scale campuses like Amazon's new campus create high-quality jobs, strengthen the local ecosystem, and support India's digital economy. We welcome investments that build long-term capability and create opportunity for our workforce," said MB Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Karnataka, following the building’s inauguration.

The development forms part of Amazon’s sustained financial commitment to India, where the company has already invested over $40 billion and pledged an additional $35 billion by 2030.
Strategically positioned approximately 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, the facility has been designed to unite teams at scale while fostering collaboration, adaptability, continuous learning and employee wellbeing, the company noted.
"Over the years, the city has been home to some of our earliest technology and business teams, and today it remains a key hub for innovation and talent," said Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India.
According to the company, the campus integrates flexible work environments and collaborative zones arranged as self-contained neighbourhoods featuring meeting suites, huddle rooms, breakout spaces and event venues capable of hosting gatherings exceeding 200 attendees.
Employees will also benefit from dedicated leisure amenities, including basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheatre, landscaped lawns and outdoor communal areas. Dining facilities spanning two floors offer a diverse selection of international cuisines.
Sustainability considerations underpin the project’s design, incorporating responsible material procurement, reuse of office assets and high-efficiency building systems intended to curb both embodied and operational carbon emissions, the company added.
